The role of the Engineering Technician will be to process warranty claims from the point the claim is raised to the issuing of the warranty report to the customer. This will include:
* Review and approve warranty claims being submitted by the customer.
* Update internal and external databases with relevant warranty information.
* Investigate/Test electrical and mechanical components.
* Author engineering reports based on findings during warranty investigations.
* Author warranty reports from the results of Joint Investigations undertaken by warranty technicians.
* Work closely with the engineering department to identify new methods of testing electrical and mechanical items.
* Identify failure trends and recommend improvements that will increase product reliability.
Who will you be working with?
As part of the Reliability department, you will have the opportunity to join our team at LH Group (a Division of Wabtec UK Ltd) based in Burton on Trent where we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.
What will your typical day look like?
* Receive claims via email daily and process these as required onto spreadsheets and the Company database.
* Daily data input of hand-written report details onto spreadsheets and the Company Database.
* Processing Depot parts requirements and placing items on order on the company database.
* Receive calls with queries from other areas of the business and assist by providing the required information obtained from the database or re-direct as needed.
* Test electrical items returned for further investigation and report on your findings.
* Investigate mechanical components returned for further investigation and report on your findings.
* With help from the engineering department create new test procedures for electrical and mechanical components returned for further investigation.
* Support with the digitisation of the reliability department.
What do we want to know about you?
* Experience working within an office environment preferably in a customer fronting role.
* Ability to prioritise workloads whilst working accurately and to tight deadlines.
* Ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships, both internally and externally.
* Highly organised and detail oriented.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
* Good knowledge of electrical circuits, motors, sensors.
