About The Role
We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join our expanding team based at our site in Howden. The candidate will work 5 days per week from Monday to Friday, 06:00-14:30.
Main responsibilities:
1. Work with VP of Operations to effectively plan workload and job allocation, ensuring tasks are completed in order of priority.
2. Work with departmental managers to ensure repairs or planned work to machinery is carried out with minimal disruption to operations.
3. Liaise with suppliers to ensure that the sufficient and relevant materials required for repairs and regeneration projects are purchased.
4. Ensure that repairs and building projects are completed to a high standard, in line with all relevant regulations.
5. Management of the departmental budget, monitoring weekly and periodical costs to ensure work remains compliant with budgets set.
6. Communicate effectively and with confidence to highlight achievements and any improvements required by implementing changes in working practice.
7. Ensure all team members are fully trained for the tasks assigned to them, arranging training as necessary.
8. Effective management of employee holidays and absences, arranging cover as required.
9. Keep overtime to a minimum and reduce where possible.
10. Monitor performance and output and highlight any areas of concern to senior management.
11. Planning and implementation of any long-term projects or work to be completed during periods of shutdown.
12. Effectively analyse and respond to all situations that should arise in relation to site maintenance and production.
13. Proactively seek to reduce wastage and reduce costs where necessary within the company.
14. Establish an effective planned maintenance programme for plant, equipment, machinery and buildings for which the company has a responsibility.
In addition to any other duties, as a responsible person you must ensure that you have read, understood and adhere to policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety, and your responsibilities located in the Integrated Management System (IMS) Responsibilities document.
About You
Desired Skills & Knowledge:
1. Proven experience in a managerial role within the manufacturing industry.
2. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate, coach, develop, motivate and build effective relationships within teams.
3. Competence with Microsoft Office and its relevant functions.
4. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and conveyor systems.
5. Knowledge of building services and automated systems.
6. Ability to carry out dynamic Risk Assessments.
7. Experience of planning PPM's and responding to reactive maintenance.
8. Ability to plan schedules of inspection and testing.
9. Ability to work accurately under pressure.
10. Strong initiative and decision-making abilities.
11. Good time management and team-working skills.
12. Educated to HNC or HND in a relevant engineering subject and hold current engineering certificates in the relevant fields.
