Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for an E/I Engineer to be based at Runcorn, Cheshire, UK.
Main Purpose
Manage the maintenance, engineering, standards, modifications, projects, improvements and compliance activities related to Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation infrastructure and systems within assigned areas of responsibility to ensure safe, cost-effective and efficient operation of plants and assets.
To maintain and improve process safety, occupational safety and environmental standards associated with the assets within the area of responsibility. Support the Engineering Management in the delivery of departmental objectives such as costs, projects and people development, with the overall aim of facilitating the delivery of business plans for Runcorn site.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day engineering, maintenance and troubleshooting works related to Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems for assigned plants / areas to facilitate safe, reliable and cost-effective operations.
* Maintain, implement and improve SHE and engineering standards in areas under his/her control to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and recognized good practice. Proactively assist in the development / improvement of site E/I and engineering standards.
* Identify, manage and implement modifications and capital projects related to or involving elements of E/I work. Lead/manage the engineering of and ensure safe and cost-effective delivery of E/I elements of major capital projects (including influencing technology selection and specification).
* Technical focal point for E/I contracts across his/her areas to ensure efficient and effective delivery of scheduled and breakdown services and value for money for the company.
* Identify specific improvement opportunities, get these incorporated into relevant capital / SR&M programs in time and with appropriate supporting information, recommend and supervise the implementation / commissioning of subsequent projects to deliver benefits to the business
* Ensure that root causes of problems related to EC&I systems are identified and solved in a timely manner so that SHE/reliability performance continues to improve. Suggest and implement required improvements.
* Maintain effective communication and close coordination with operating teams to ensure necessary service level and support is provided to operators for EC&I systems in the relevant areas.
* Direct, train, coach & maintain the competence of manufacturing personnel with respect to installed and new E/I systems to ensure maximum exploitation for the benefit of Fluor and Energy Materials.
* Control and monitor E/I budgets and spend for the relevant areas to meet the business targets, as agreed with the Site E/I Engineer.
* Provide out of hours ‘duty manager’ cover on ~1 in 12-week frequency for emergency cover only.
Qualifications
* Minimum: B Eng (Hons) Degree in electrical / control engineering.
* Desirable: Certification in SIS (e.g. TUV FSEng).
Knowledge/ Experience Required
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an E/I Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
* Good working knowledge and experience on a range of LV electrical systems.
* Good working knowledge of process control fundamentals and their application.
* Good working knowledge of a range of instrumentation systems.
* Good working knowledge of safety instrumented systems and their application.
* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
* Proven ability in basic PLC or DCS programming.
* Good working knowledge EAW Regulations 1989 and BS7671.
* Good working knowledge of IEC 61511.
* Good working knowledge of EN 60079 / DSEAR.
* Experience of the chemicals, petrochemicals or oil and gas industry would be desirable.
* cGMP experience / formal training and understanding of COMAH would be desirable.
