L3Harris MAPPS (Bristol, Burgess Hill and Barrow-in-Furness) provides an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for the Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. This software provides integrated monitoring and control of ship propulsion, electrical functions, auxiliaries and damage control machinery and systems.
The key purpose of the role is to provide an effective level of commercial support to the day-to-day operation of current programmes and bids within the business and help to ensure that all commercial interests of the business are protected and profitability is maximised within acceptable risk levels. Responsible for ensuring all business activities comply with applicable UK regulations and corporate policies.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
9. Providing strategic input into contract and bid activities in line with business and functional objectives
10. Development of complex commercial proposals and contracting mechanisms
11. Providing commercial input into the cost estimating process and the development and management of pricing and cash flow models to meet customer requirements.
12. Sign off of bid/projects prices and obtaining corporate approvals in accordance with company delegations of authority
13. Identification and management of commercial risks to meet project commitments
14. Support to the Supply Chain team in relation to contractual terms and conditions and legal issues.
15. Manage the commercial elements of the contract change control process
16. Analysis and drafting of contract requirements and terms and conditions to ensure compliance with law and corporate policies
17. Develop negotiation strategies and support negotiations to ensure strategic business objectives are met
18. Negotiation and signature of Non-Disclosure Agreements, ensuring all company requirements are met
19. Contract administration of the allocated projects to maximize profitability and ensure timely achievement of project objectives
20. Provide contractual guidance to the project team and briefings on project commercial issues when required
21. Build effective commercial customer relationships and be the commercial focal point for allocated projects
22. Development of commercial processes and procedures within the business
What you’ll bring
The role of Senior Contracts Officer requires the following experience and skills:
23. 6+ years previous experience in a commercial role
24. Previous evaluation of commercial risks
25. In-depth knowledge of MoD contracting and procurement rules
26. Prioritise own workload and organise own time to achieve objectives

29. Strong presentation and communication skills
