Claxton is currently looking for a Project Engineer to join the Riser team on a full-time, permanent basis. This will be a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Riser Project Team at Claxton Engineering. The role will focus on upstream oil & gas, specifically for the supply of HP drilling risers and tensioning equipment for the jack-up drilling rigs, either for exploration, development, workover, or decommissioning purposes.
Based in Great Yarmouth and reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the Project Engineer will undertake a variety of projects, managing scope, cost, time, risk, resources, procurements, quality, and communications in accordance with company policies, processes and procedures, whilst adhering to client contractual obligations. Regular client interaction will take place, managing expectations, and ensuring appropriate stakeholder satisfaction is apparent via proactive management of project scope ensuring all milestones are met.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Ensure all assigned projects are administered in accordance with company’s Quality Management System and to agreed contractual obligations.
2. Maximise both customer satisfaction and company profitability without compromise to health, safety, and the environment by effectively managing projects from their initiation, the planning and execution phases, through to closure, whilst ensuring monitoring and control is exercised.
3. Implement projects according to contract terms, project goals and objectives, in a proactive manner, including regular interface with all stakeholders such as clients, certifying authorities, contractors/suppliers and staff/personnel as necessary.
4. Ensure project definition is apparent, clarifying scope, estimates and assumptions with sales team during project handovers.
5. Ensure all appropriate projects are kicked off, their meetings are effective, congruent with the project scope and set the tone for success.
6. Attend client meetings regarding appropriate project matters as and when required.
7. Prepare project plans in a timely manner.
8. Create and update project schedules, ensuring critical path activities are understood and communicated.
9. Identify appropriate project risk and implement risk response planning whilst upwardly referring issues.
10. Proactively manage project change including preparation of variation orders or concession requests for ongoing, active projects.
11. Ensure project procurements are considered in terms of cost, time and quality.
12. Understand project commercial drivers and costs, controlling activities to limit adverse impact upon project finances.
13. Prepare documentation packs for workshop activities to enable efficient product realisation and mobilisation within time demands of the project, ensuring appropriate reviews take place with necessary personnel.
14. Prepare documentation packs for worksite execution (On/Offshore) ensuring appropriate reviews take place with necessary personnel including pre- and post-briefings.
15. Ensure the Design Engineering department is appraised of the project scope such that all engineering activities and calculations are carried out to verify the suitability of equipment and procedures.
16. Liaise with Product Leaders to ensure technical matters pertaining to the product line and their application are understood and actioned as necessary.
17. Where contractually obliged, attendance offshore to assure project execution and fulfilment.
18. Collate project metrics and report building during project execution for appropriate projects.
19. Provision of project reports and weekly time sheets, end of project, lessons learned, and technical reports are submitted on time, where appropriate.
20. All lessons learned are captured throughout the course of a project (real time) and fed back to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
21. Liaise with the sales team to identify and respond to project sales opportunities, assisting where required with preparation of bids and quotations for potential projects.
22. Fulfilling rostered On-Call (out of hours) duty.
Required
1. Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or 5 years’ experience in an Engineering environment in upstream oil & gas.
2. Computer literate in Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft software.
3. Application of HP drilling riser products & services in the upstream oil & gas sector, would be an advantage.
4. Project management, quality management systems, health and safety, safe systems of work and legal requirements.
5. Project financing and commercial drivers experience.
6. Demonstrable experience in project management whilst adhering to ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
7. Experience in the production of programs of work and project management/execution plans and reports.
8. Organisational with keen attention to detail, Solution driven approach.
9. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with diverse audiences, Excellent interpersonal skills.
10. Experience preparing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, and maintaining client rapport.
11. Aptitude to learn rapidly, self-motivated with a proactive and positive approach to business in general.
12. Team player, collaborative and open to feedback.
13. Valid passport, and full UK driving license. Current Offshore Survival and Medical Certification, preferred.
14. Willing to travel overseas occasionally.
15. Remain contactable during critical project/offshore start up activities.
