Job summary
Long Stratton Medical Practice based in Tharston, has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in our Swan Lane surgery, the role will be for 24 hours per week based across 4 days, (6 hours per day), but there is a need for some flexibility. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience and offers excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide an efficient, caring and understanding reception service to our patients and any other visitors to the practice.
2. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
3. Ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
4. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
5. Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately, alongside our digital automated registration portal.
6. Receive and make telephone calls as required.
7. Send via task messages requests for home visits, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and following the surgery visit protocol.
8. Managing the practice email inbox, to include responding, and the re-direction appropriately and accordingly
9. Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

We are also a dispensing practice with a dispensing list of around 5,500 patients.
We have completed our surgery expansion work with a new wing being added to include 7 clinical rooms. The reason for the expansion is that Long Stratton is being bypassed, 2,000 new homes are planned and therefore potentially 5,000-6,000 new patients will be joining us.
