This is a unique opportunity to join our team. Working alongside the Care Group Director and the wider leadership team you will be responsible for internal quality, professional standards and the delivery of high-quality patient centred care in Health in Justice services. We are seeking an experienced senior nurse and leader who can provide a strong systems perspective to the quality governance and professional leadership agenda across the Group. You must have an excellent track record of success at a senior level within a large and complex organisation, together with experience of partnership working with external agencies. Added to this, we want a nurse leader with energy and a commitment to continuous improvement, enhancing the experience and outcomes for people who use our services.

Main duties of the job
The Associate Director of Nursing and Quality will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in clinical areas upon which service users can rely to ensure that the fundamentals of care are right. The post holder will provide professional advice on nursing matters with responsibility for leading the Professional Nurse Advisory Group and other professional nursing practice and development forums, ensuring continuous professional developments and clinical supervision practices and structures are in place and accessible for all nurses.
Working closely with the leadership team, they will ensure the provision of services within an integrated governance framework that is safe, effective and efficient and maintains standards against a broad range of local, national and statutory requirements and policies. In addition, they will support and facilitate all nurses to be adherent with the professional fitness to practice obligations in line with NMC revalidation requirements. Act as a conduit between the services and Nursing and Governance directorate functions in relation to the maintenance of consistently high standards e.g. Safeguarding, IPC, Patient Safety. The Post Holder will take lead nursing responsibility for attending relevant governance groups within their care group ensuring there is a consistent approach to high quality, compliant, safe and effective practice.

Knowledge and Qualifications
* Current nurse registration at 1st Level
* Demonstrate understanding and experiential knowledge of professional nursing governance and development through holding a current 1st level nurse registration in mental health or learning disability
* Demonstrate analytical and synthetical level intellectual skills, ability to gather and manipulate information at advanced level and ability to manage advanced levels of knowledge through: Masters level academic qualification in a health or management related topic or Masters level therapeutic qualification/registration in a therapeutic model relevant to mental health or learning disability or First degree or equivalent in a health related topic and demonstration of academic capability to achieve masters level academic qualification
* Demonstration of advanced transactional management skills and knowledge of range of models of management acquired through either: - 1st line management qualification or Experiential learning to develop 1st line management skills and knowledge
* Demonstration of advanced transformational leadership knowledge, skills and competencies together with understanding of models of leadership, acquired through either: - Recognised/accredited leadership development programme above band 7 level
* Evidence of understanding of models of change management and service improvement with ability to give examples of application through either: - Completion of an accredited qualification in a recognised theoretically based Quality Improvement System with evidence of implementation of learning Demonstrating leadership of large scale change management/service improvement projects with presentation of underpinning recognised theoretical rationale.
* Demonstration of an understanding of the purpose and application of research and audit through academic study or experiential learning and application
* Evidence of a recognised teaching qualification and demonstration of teaching and education experience.
* Evidence of regular supervisory practice and knowledge of the principles and practice of supervisory process.

* In addition to demonstrating one of the essential academic qualifications, ability to demonstrate knowledge of a model of mental health or learning disability therapy through post registration training and practice.
* Enhanced knowledge of management and leadership competencies and models through specific accredited qualifications
* Accreditation as leader in a Toyota Production Systems or Lean production improvement model.
* Recognised module or qualification in Applied Research or Clinical Audit
* Evidence advanced competency and knowledge of managing change through formal project management training and experience
* Recognised qualification in First Line Financial Management - particularly Health Service Finance.

Experience
* Significant experience in a senior management role (above band 7/ ward manager level) to evidence use of strategic and operational management skills and thinking skills
* Demonstrate ability to manage in crisis, make decisions under pressure and self-reliant evidenced by: - Significant experience of being in operational 1st or 2nd on call role out of normal working hours and Significant experience in lead specialist role used for trust wide guidance or advice
* Evidence of using mentoring, coaching and assessment knowledge and skills through implementation of the NMC Nurse Mentor and Assessor Role with preregistration learners
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill in investigation, review and data analysis through multiple experiences of investigation and governance review processes where information collation and analysis are required - through e.g. service reviews, complaints investigations, incident investigation and/or disciplinary processes
* Ability to demonstrate teaching and presentation skills and knowledge of theoretical models of education and information transfer through either: - Formal education/teaching qualification and practice experience OR Experiential learning and demonstration of teaching/education practice underpinned by description of theoretical rationale.
