Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the Southeast of England in the search for a Development Management Manager on a rolling contract basis.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. To lead and be responsible for the overall performance of the Development Management, Enforcement, and Technical Support services, ensuring all statutory targets and any locally set targets are met.
2. Supporting Assistant Service Leads and senior officers so that they thrive whilst delivering targets and supporting strategic goals.
Purpose of job:
1. To be responsible for all aspects of the Development Management service, in accordance with service objectives. To be accountable for the efficient and effective delivery of services to customers, for the quality management and cost effectiveness of those services, and for securing continuous service improvement within the framework of corporate strategies.
2. As a member of the Senior Management Team, to proactively contribute to the Council's effective corporate governance and the formulation of corporate strategy, plans and targets; contributing to the delivery of the Council's corporate vision and strategic objectives.
About you:
1. A high performing, capable and confident professional with the ability and drive to see work programmes through to completion.
2. A degree (or equivalent) in either Town and Country Planning, Building Surveying or a relevant related discipline.
3. Minimum 5 years experience in a relevant planning related work area and demonstrable knowledge of the national planning and buildings legislation/regulations.
4. Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering service wide improvements.
5. Experience of financial management and budget setting/monitoring procedures.
6. Experience at building and developing effective senior leaders through motivating and coaching.
7. Experience at working in a positive manner with Elected Members, senior staff and other service areas.
The council are happy to offer the post with flexible working arrangements; however, they would expect the successful applicant to have a weekly office presence.
