Manufacturing Engineer - Laser Processing
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting the introduction and development of new projects, design changes, and current production improvements for both new and existing customers. You will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and safety of the manufacturing processes, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to optimise manufacturing processes, implement new technologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish lessons learnt from Engineering & Shop floor perspectives & reflect into new process concepts as part of the RFQ & development process.
2. Establish process cycle time estimates & understand the effects on the capacity of new & existing equipment.
3. Develop layout concepts reflecting lean thinking & lessons learnt.
4. Support the Engineering Manager in all milestone activities (design reviews, build events, etc).
5. Support final engineering implementation ensuring that all key deliverables are achieved (cycle time, OEE, safety approval, etc).
6. Lead improvement activities such as Scrap Reduction, OEE improvement, 8D resolution, Poke Yoke, etc.
7. Lead the implementation of new equipment, automation systems, and production methodologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness.
8. Collaborate with equipment suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and successful deployment of new technologies.
9. Collaborate with Quality teams to establish and maintain quality standards for manufacturing processes and products.
10. Implement robust quality control measures to prevent defects and non-conformities during production.
11. Investigate root causes of quality issues and develop corrective and preventive actions to address them effectively.
12. Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and minimise downtime.
13. Participate in cross-functional teams to address production-related challenges and ensure smooth operations.
14. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
15. Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen events, Six Sigma projects, and value stream mapping exercises.
16. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback from frontline employees and implementing their suggestions for process enhancements.
17. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety, and drive initiatives to achieve targets.
Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, or relevant experience is a plus.
2. Familiarity with equipment standards.
3. Knowledge of laser cutting/welding.
4. Knowledge of PLC and SCADA programming is desirable.
