We are seeking a dynamic team member to join our friendly and supportive Business Services and Outsourcing team. The role will be recruited at either Manager or Senior Manager grade, subject to the level of prior experience. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) can be combined with an element of home-working under the firm’s agile working policy, once up to speed in the role.
About The Team
Our Business Services team supports businesses in various sectors and structures, including limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, not-for-profit organizations/charities, and professional firms. The team provides services such as bookkeeping, management accounts, year-end accounts preparation, VAT, personal & corporate tax, and other accounting matters.
The successful candidate will need to be effective working both as part of a team and independently, either in our office or at client sites. While based at our central Ipswich office, we may consider candidates wishing to be based at other Ensors locations (Bury St Edmunds, Saxmundham, Norwich, Cambridge, or Huntingdon). Regular travel to client sites and the Ipswich office will be required.
About The Role
This is not your average Business services accounts practice role. It involves working with clients to enhance their internal finance functions, from acting as part of their finance team to streamlining their accounts processes.
The role primarily involves preparing management accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, alongside supporting junior team members with queries. It also includes reviewing client records, recommending improvements, and assisting with implementation projects including planning and training.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dealing with clients – reviewing their processes and making improvement recommendations.
2. Management Accounting: Producing timely and accurate management accounts for financial planning and strategy.
3. Management Reporting: Developing comprehensive management reporting packs for informed decision-making.
4. VAT Returns: Producing and reviewing VAT returns for various clients across industries.
5. Team support and Development: Leading, training, and supporting the team to ensure high performance.
6. Systems and Processes Improvement: Continuously improving finance systems and processes for clients.

Essential Skills And Experience
1. Holding ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent experience with a solid background in finance operations.
2. Experience in an accountancy or professional services environment preferred.
3. High IT proficiency, especially with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and advanced Excel skills.
4. Experience in drafting and reporting management accounts, setting up accounting systems, and VAT returns.
5. Excellent client communication skills.
6. Strong ICT skills and a willingness to improve systems and processes.
7. Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities, and work positively in a team.
8. Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
9. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidence in client interactions.
10. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
11. Full UK driving license and access to transport for client visits.
12. Tenacious, thorough, with a keen eye for potential issues.
Desirable
1. Experience in a digital team providing software recommendations.
2. Experience in assessing and improving finance systems and processes.
3. Knowledge of complex VAT matters and advising clients on VAT.
4. Experience in training others.
