Role Overview:
As a Managing Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and driving the commercial performance of projects across various sectors. You will lead a team of surveyors, ensuring efficient cost management, effective risk mitigation, and successful project delivery within budget and timeline expectations. Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the surveying team, providing mentorship and guidance.
2. Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts.
3. Ensure accurate valuations, payment applications, and final account settlements.
4. Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and management.
5. Manage contractual claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
6. Monitor and report on project progress, costs, and profitability.
7. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
8. Drive continuous improvement and adherence to industry best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Surveyor in the construction sector.
2. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, particularly NEC and JCT.
3. Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
4. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
5. Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB) is advantageous.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commercial mindset.
7. Proficiency in construction software and MS Office applications.
