Arbuthnot Yon has been instructed exclusively on an opportunity for a commercial lawyer to join a leading business with a turnover of over £2bn and 7,000 employees in the UK alone. Forming part of a large established in-house team, you will work closely with commercial teams which have an annual spend in the £100s of million. In addition to this, you would advise on broader legal areas including general commercial contracts, IT, IP, and data protection.
Working closely with business colleagues you will:
1. Project manage large scale commercial projects with a value in the 100s of millions. Here you would work closely with the business team as the lead lawyer overseeing strategy, project management of legals, and drafting and negotiation of bids, tenders, and supply agreements.
2. Draft and negotiate high value contracts relating to goods and services agreements, outsourcing agreements, consultancy, and technology related agreements.
3. Advise on innovation projects which may include joint ventures, collaborations, and spin-offs.
4. Advise the business in relation to GDPR related risk.
5. Advise on ad-hoc legal areas such as IP, data protection, and disputes.
We are keen to hear from commercial lawyers with at least 3-4 years’ PQE gained in-house or in private practice who are looking to develop and step up in a business environment. Alternatively, this position would be suited to (and we are also very keen to hear from) more experienced lawyers looking for a new challenge. In terms of specific experience, we are looking for lawyers with strong commercial contract negotiation skills. Any experience in project management, procurement, IT, or data protection would be beneficial.
