Our client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer required to work in the High Vacuum & Semi Conductor industry, designing high temperature heaters and manipulation stages, that operate in Physical Vapour Deposition Systems. This job involves not only design, but also includes project management, building, testing and on site installation (mainly in Europe, but also North America and Asia).
The candidate should ideally have a degree or have a minimum qualification at HNC level in Engineering with experience in engineering design using solid modelling software (Solid works), preferably in the High Vacuum Industry or Precision Engineering. They operate in a very niche area and so training will be given, but experience of working within the vacuum industry would be a great advantage.

The ideal candidate would be experienced in design using solid modelling software. They would also have good engineering hand skills, able to assemble, test, fault find, develop and modify their designs to attain the required operating performance. They will have new skills, ideas and knowledge that they can bring in to complement our existing team of engineers and how improve and grow our product range.
They would have a professional friendly approach, be able to handle pressure and keep a smile on their face. They would be able to prioritise and cope with a number of projects at the same time. They would be a forward thinker, always looking for ways to improve our products, our mode of operation and spot new business opportunities. They would be able to work well on their own, but also as part of a close team and be able to liaise with customers. They would also need a driving licence, and be happy to drive (and fly) to customers all over Europe, and fly out to North America and Asia when required for installations.

A typical day:
Involves working on customer orders in both 3D modelling and 2D drawings. Working directly with the customer to obtain a specification of their requirements whilst keeping on time and on budget. As an engineer you will handle the project up to passing over to the purcashing team at which point you monitor the procject until it is dispatched to the customer. You will also be supporting the production team with both knowledge and hands on skills where required and from time to time be involved with building, testing and installations.

£30,000.00 - £45,000.00 pa salary + bonuses
25 days holiday per year + bank holidays
