Server Build Engineer

A Server Build Engineer (Infrastructure build engineer) is required for an Operating System upgrade (Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019/2022 TBA) on a secure enterprise infrastructure. The Server Build Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of both high- and low-level design documents as well as the implementation Windows Server builds and the provisioning mechanism.
The Server Build Engineer will report to the Design Authority (Principal Architect) and the Crimson Bridge Programme & Service Managers. The Server Build Engineer will be part of the Crimson Bridge Account Team and will liaise with the current CB SMEs for Infrastructure, Applications and Networking as required. Because the Capability is currently delivered a higher-level secure environment full SC clearance will be required with a willingness to progress to Direct Vetting (DV) clearance and must therefore be a UK Single National.
The Server Build Engineer will need to be comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment; be happy to engage with fellow SMEs; be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines; and be flexible and amenable to work from Fujitsu premises and potentially Client sites.
The role holder will be responsible for the ownership & delivery of the required designs, and documentation for the OS upgrade installed on the platform, cognisant of the underlying security requirements of infrastructure platform and Agile principles.
Critical Skills Required:
1. Develop deployment strategy for multiple Windows Server builds
2. Design of automated builds
3. Experience of MECM/SCCM
4. Design and implement a HyperV infrastructure including automated provisioning of VMs
5. Experience with VSphere and ESX is useful
6. Design and implement a Microsoft Certificate Authority Solution
7. Develop Windows Server firewall configurations
8. Integration of packaged applications into the server provisioning
9. Knowledge of CESG guidance, DISA STIGs and implementation of security profiles to meet these requirements
10. Produce Group Policy Objects and PowerShell scripts to implement the above
11. Produce High Level design documentation for the above
12. Produce Low Level design documentation for the above
13. Produce transition plans
14. Produce User Documentation
Mandatory Skills Required:
15. General Knowledge of Applications Deployment
16. Experience of operating within an Agile/Scrum environment
17. Security Cleared to SC level or above, willing to progress to DV
18. Systems and Software Engineering background including all aspects of the solution lifecycle
19. Knowledge and experience of the take on and implementation of MOD applications and any associated GOTS/COTS components
20. Windows Server 2019/2022 (Experience of implementing an automated deployment using MECM/SCCM is a must)
21. Certificate Manager/Windows PKI
22. Windows 10 deployment and
23. Experience with VBScript
24. Experience with Powershell
25. Knowledge and experience of Virtualisation technologies
26. Good communications skills, written and verbal presentation
27. Technical knowledge of MOD IT systems, security policies and enforcement
28. Knowledge and experience of implementing solutions IAW JSP440, 480 and JSP604
29. Knowledge of End-User Applications implementation
Desirable Skills Required:
30. VMWare PowerCLI desirable
31. Knowledge and experience of supporting military data communications systems
