Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Record Management: Maintain and process accurate bookkeeping records, ensuring meticulous reconciliation of accounts and timely invoice processing.
• VAT Compliance: Take ownership of preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Client Account Oversight: Manage client accounts, ensure accurate record-keeping, and facilitate timely payments to maintain positive client relationships.
• Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, including profit and loss reports and balance sheets.
• Client Liaison: Provide expert support to clients on VAT-related and bookkeeping queries, offering clear and efficient guidance.
• Process Improvement: Regularly review and refine internal bookkeeping processes to ensure optimal accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of changes to VAT regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant with all legislative changes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team to support month-end and year-end accounting processes, contributing to the team’s overall financial objectives.

Key Requirements:
• Professional Qualification: AAT qualification (or equivalent) is essential, demonstrating your strong grasp of accounting principles and VAT regulations.
• Experience:
o 2+ years of experience using Xero accounting software.
o 2+ years of experience preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations.
o Level 3 AAT Qualification or equivalent
• Client Communication: Confident in speaking with clients on the phone, addressing their queries, and offering professional support in relation to VAT and bookkeeping matters.
• Independent Work Ethic: Capable of working autonomously and taking responsibility for day-to-day tasks, particularly when the team leader is on leave or otherwise unavailable.
• Tech-Savvy: A strong comfort with technology, particularly in adapting to new software tools as the company embraces innovative solutions to streamline accounting processes.
• Attention to Detail: An unwavering commitment to precision in financial data management, ensuring that all financial records are maintained to the highest standards.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and professionally liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide proactive support.
• Self-Sufficiency: Ability to work autonomously, ensuring the continuity of financial operations during periods of absence (e.g., during annual leave).
