Amazon Web Services Infrastructure Services team provides comprehensive technical support throughout the design, planning, delivery, and operation of Amazon Web Services infrastructure. We support data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure the customers of Amazon Web Services have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations technical support managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across Amazon and our operating partners to help Amazon Web Services deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for the customers. The Data Center Technical Support Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) will assist with operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The EOT serves as a technical resource to support operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. EOT are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. They are data center front line technical support responders for electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. These equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
1. Support maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
2. Assist root cause analysis of equipment failures
3. Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
4. Support take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
5. Able to work a 12 hour shift to support 24/7 operations (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks)
Physical Requirements:
All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations:
1. Walk job sites in uneven terrain.
2. Work at heights and from ladders.
3. Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
4. Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.
5. Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
6. Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
7. Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired.
8. Perform extended site rounds that could include long distances of walking and long periods of time being away from a desk.
9. Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects.
10. Push or pull heavy objects into position.
11. Work in a noisy environment.
12. Work at depths, such as under raised floors.
13. Work support could include travel to more than one site location (travel less than 25% of time).

- Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory
- Knowledge of generic mechanical room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controls
- 1+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities experience
