We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated person to join our dispensary team in Evelina London Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice in the Dispensary you will have an opportunity to support the team in delivering pharmaceutical care to the diverse group of paediatric patients while gaining relevant knowledge and skills which will assist you to complete NVQ level 2 qualification. The qualification can help to secure your future employment and career progression within the NHS.
To develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of Pharmacy Services you will be involved in pharmacy processes such as dispensing, management of returns, the storage, distribution and transport of medicines as well as customer services.
This post is 18-month fixed term contract.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reception
• Greet patients or their representatives at the outpatient hatch. Ensuring all administrative details are complete and are accurate on the electronic patient record system, referring when necessary.
• Deal promptly with hospital staff, assisting with their enquires.

• Complete the receiving process in line with the departmental procedure.
Dispensary
• Ensure that procedures relating to good dispensing practices are followed, and to encourage and maintain high standards and orderly methods of working.
• Participate in dispensing of medicines including controlled drugs in line with labelling and dispensing standards.
Clerical Duties
• Sort and file all dispensary documentation on a daily basis.
Answer the telephone according to hospital guidelines.
• Preparing patients medications for posting/couriering when requested.
• Delivering medications for posting/couriering to the post room in a timely manner when requested.
Stock Control
• Participate in stock and consumable management in the dispensary, including daily and monthly stock checks, stock rotation, expiry date checks and relevant documentation.
• Participate in receiving stock requisitions/orders ensuring items are checked and discrepancies identified, these are fit for purpose and are stored appropriately, according to departmental procedures.
• Communicate with the relevant individuals any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with the problem solving of incorrect stock levels, generated by stock checks and adhoc queries.
• Assist with the management of medicine waste and medication returns. Ensuring recycling and destruction procedures are adhered to.
• Assist in the investigation and required actions of drug alerts/recalls and out of stocks.
• Replenish stock of medicine bottles, cartons, dispensary bags, measures and caps daily and to complete a weekly top-up.
Training and Education
• Undertake Pharmacy Services - Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship.
• Undertake CPD and reflect on practice where needs are identified.
• Participate in relevant work place training as required.
• Complete relevant statutory and mandatory training.
• Participate in the departmental performance review scheme by attending regular review sessions with the Principal Paediatric Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary.
General Duties
• Ensure environment and equipment used in the Dispensary is clean and ready for use.
• Prepare the ward and departments bags ready for delivery.
• Assist in the delivery of urgent medication to the wards on an ad-hoc bases.
• Participate in the Omnicell service by completing cycle counts as required.
• Maintain current and relevant information in the waiting area in conjunction with the Principal Paediatric Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary.
• Participate in the late duty rotas as required.
• Undertake any other duties requested by the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Principal Paediatric Pharmacy Technicians.
Work in line with trust policies and procedures.
