About the Role
DP World London Gateway are recruiting a number of Vessel & Rail Planners – Operations to join us, these roles are available due to continued and exciting growth plans. In this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely ship working plans, adhering to stringent health and safety protocols while maximising yard efficiency. You will also create and distribute precise rail plans in collaboration with rail operators and generate comprehensive vessel operating reports. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining our high standards of operational excellence.
NOTE: This is a full-time position that requires on site presence.
How you will contribute
* Become an expert in the use of the TOS (Terminal Operating System) for ship and rail planning functionality.
* Develop effective relationships with the planning and operational staff of Port clients in order to obtain bay plans and other information required for the ship planning process.
* Prepare discharge and load sequences to achieve optimum utilisation.
* Prepare ship working programmes following agreed strategy as determined by the Planning Manager considering special circumstances as may be requested by the Shift Manager or others.
* Review and amend ship working programmes to account for changes in priority or changing yard conditions.
* Prepare accurate and timely vessel operating reports to distribute to shipping line customers.
* Prepare adequate shift handovers for oncoming shift and ensure work is completed to provide for a smooth shift transition.
* Ensure that the Company Safety & Environment policy and procedures are observed as well as all relevant safety legislation and the provisions of the relevant Health and Safety & Environmental Acts.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement process and to the meeting of business objectives. Propose new techniques, processes and methods to improve the quality of planning section output.
* Undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
* Comply with Fatal Risk Standards, Health & Safety Policy and safe working practices, ensure responsibility for safety and discipline in work area and report accidents and ‘near misses’ in accordance with defined safety procedures.
What you will bring
* Sound knowledge of Ship and Yard operations and Terminal control procedures.
* Computer literacy in planning systems e.g. Power Mac, Express data base and Sparcs Planning Systems.
* Effective customer service skills to appreciate customer requirements and to try and meet them within the terminal objectives.
* Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills, due to close contact with customers.
* Excellent planning and organising skills with a high level of attention to detail.
* Solid negotiation skills when dealing with customers.

* A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads
* No unspent criminal convictions
* Due to manufacturing guidelines on equipment and site safety critical health and safety requirements, we have strict weight and medical requirements that need to be met and maintained. For our safety critical roles health and medical and fitness checks are performed. Requirements include, but are not limited to, weight, height, blood pressure and hearing.
* We may close our roles early, depending on the number of applications received.
