Job overview Are you looking for an opportunity to use your practical skills and experience to support the teaching of the next generation of Physicists? The Physics Department, part of the Faculty of Science and Technology, is looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join the Teaching Technician Team. The role is an indefinite, term time only position (36.5 hours per week, 30 weeks per annum). There may be some flexibility for suitable candidates, balanced with operational need. Key elements of your job will be to: Preparing, setting up and supporting practical sessions in the teaching laboratories. Laboratory management and housekeeping. Assisting with safety oversight of the laboratories. Basic maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment. Supporting outreach events. About you To be a suitable candidate for this position you will have: Knowledge and understanding of an experimental science (eg Physics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar) equivalent to a level 4 qualification, gained through work experience and/or study. Good organisational and time management skills. A methodical approach to problem solving. A practical hands on approach to working. A commitment to providing an excellent student learning experience.
