Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant A Primary School that is based in Cheltenham, on the outskirts north of the city centre, is currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in their Early Years Department. This is needed to be an ASAP start, and will be an on-going position which will run to the end of this academic year, and then into the next. It is a part time position, and will be 5 mornings a week, from 9-12.30 each day. This role will initially be based in Nursery for this academic year, and will move to Reception from September as it is a 1:1 role with a child with SEN, and so you’d move to the year above when he does. The school needs someone who is ideally qualified as a Teaching Assistant, or can show they have extensive experience within this. Experience with SEN is also highly essential for this role as the child has complex needs and so you need to be able to display good knowledge of SEN and of how to approach various situations that could occur with the child. You must be a team player and passionate about supporting children with their learning. What will you need to do on a daily basis? Show enthusiasm, positivity, motivation and passion about meeting the needs of vulnerable learners Be a versatile and flexible team member who uses their own knowledge and experience to provide personalised support and intervention Be skilled at developing positive relationships and managing behaviour Be keen to learn from others, willing to share good practice and develop their expertise What has Ofsted said about the school? “Leaders are ambitious and make sure staff have high expectations of pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The curriculum is well designed because leaders have thought in detail about what pupils should learn. Teachers think carefully about the learning activities they give to pupils. As a result, pupils learn the curriculum well”. Does this role sound like something you would be interested in?
