We are recruiting for a part-time Control Centre Operator on a maternity contract basis, working on behalf of the local Council in their Lifeline 24/7 Control Centre located in the heart of Folkestone.
There is some capacity to do homeworking once you have completed your training and are confident, but initially, the role will be on-site in Folkestone.
No previous control centre experience is required, but the role is considered ideal for someone with strong administrative and customer service skills, particularly over the telephone, who has a polite, calm, empathetic demeanour and exceptionally clear communication skills.
The main purpose of the role:
1. The team monitors Lifeline Clients and deals with out of hours duty officer calls.
2. You will provide support advice and action an emergency response, should the call demand.
3. The role involves safeguarding vulnerable and disabled customers by providing an effective response and proactive monitoring service via Lifelines, mobile GPS enabled devices, and telephone information lines.
4. You will respond to calls for assistance from clients and stakeholders of all the monitored services, ensuring appropriate action and services are utilized to resolve both crisis situations and daily dilemmas.
5. You will be required to produce accurate reports and records of all non-routine incidents such as medical or environmental emergencies, ensuring the appropriate emergency services are called when necessary and referring on, as appropriate to other services.
Hours of Work:
You must be able to commit to 22 hours per week on average and will include occasional weekend work. The role will run until July 2025.
Because this is an out of hours service, you must be available to work a combination of shifts including earlies, lates, and nights.
Early Shift: 6am – 2pm
Late Shift: 2pm – 10pm
Night Shift: 10pm – 6am
The rota is prepared months in advance so once you have started, you would know what you were rota’d to work. To give you an idea, currently, the Officer tends to complete a Monday early shift, Wednesday late shift, and Thursday night, but there is some flex around this. There is also the opportunity to swap shifts with colleagues. There may be an opportunity to pick up occasional additional shifts due to sickness/holidays etc.
Rate of Pay:
£26,44.00 - £34,822 per annum according to experience or £13.90 - £18.10 per hour.
The successful post holder will be required to complete a DBS check at no personal cost.
If you would like to be considered for the above and can commit to the out of hours, then your application is warmly welcomed.
