About the Site:
You will be working in an environment that is centred around giving children that have additional needs the highest level of support and ongoing development possible. They have fantastic facilities all purpose-built to help the children progress socially and in some cases educationally. They invest heavily in the development of new staff with a very comprehensive training programme. They have lots of outdoor space to create fun engaging activities for the children outside to try and help stimulate their development. You will be working in an environment where no two days are the same. You will work in dorms with groups of experienced staff that will help guide you through your new career. What the Role Is All About:
You will assist children with special needs to become more independent, the children can have a range of special needs from Autism. You will be helping them with all aspects of their lives. You will become key to their ongoing development. Is there anything more rewarding than that moment when the child in your care gets into a new positive routine and really starts to engage positively with life? From getting ready in the morning to playing stimulating games on and off the grounds from working with farm animals to helping the children create fun and engaging outdoor activities on the grounds, to simply going to the shop and buying sweets, it’s a very varied role. Some days will be challenging but you will have lots of support to help you succeed in your new career. This is a role for people who enjoy a very active and varied environment that you can leave at the end of the day like you have actually achieved something.
Training Provided/Induction:
The residential site offers comprehensive training through a week-long induction program where you will be taught all the skills needed to do this role to a high standard. You will learn new skills, gain qualifications; meet members of the senior leadership who will welcome you to the team and be on hand to answer any questions you may have. The support does not stop there. You will begin your journey once trained by shadowing staff and working in groups of 6 – 12 in dorms. This is so you and the children get time to acclimatize to each other. You will be shown how to do the role by your team leader and other staff who have done this role for a while. You will have weekly appraisals where you will get another opportunity to have an in-depth conversation about your journey and senior leadership can help guide you to ensure a smooth transition in your new career. You will be working in a company that prefers to promote from within and really do guide staff to help them make the best career choices.
Type of Contract:
This is a full-time permanent position, working a fixed 3 days on and 3 days off rota, providing an average of 4 days off a week. The set hours are 07:15 till 10 PM each working day with breaks for lunch and later in the day.
