Job overview
We would like to present an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist to join our Sunderland South community treatment team, supporting people with complex mental health difficulties. This post is a 15 month fixed term/secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave.
You will work closely with a well led and well established multidisciplinary team across a range of tasks, such as providing specialist assessments and psychological therapy to those with complex mental health difficulties. There are opportunities to contribute to our extensive training programme as well as developing your own CPD. You will be well supported by the wider MDT, as well as working alongside a number of other therapists within and across teams.
the post holder will be clinically supervised by a senior psychologist / psychological therapist and professionally supervised by the consultant clinical psychologist. You will also join a wider psychological service of about 15 therapists that serves the adult teams in community across the south CBU. As such you will join a supportive network with a lot of clinical and wider expertise.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role involve providing one to one assessments, therapy, group interventions. Other tasks such as supervision and training can be considered depending on need and experience. You will receive regular supervision and the chance to engage in ongoing continuing professional development.

Person specification
Qualifications
* An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, OT or Social Worker qualification or An Honours degree level qualification in a mental health field, subject to specific suitability check. HCPC registered practitioner psychologist, or registered member of an appropriate professional body e.g., BABCP registered CBT practitioner Or Registered member of an appropriate psychological professional body e.g., BABCP registered
* Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy appropriate to the designated pathway (e.g., Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma, EMDR practitioner level qualification).
Experience
* Experience in psychological therapy in the field of the designated speciality, including assessment, formulation and interventions, drawing on a evidence based psychological models and knowledge, and including work with service users with mild, moderate, severe and enduring mental health problems.
* Experience of model-specific psychological assessment of clients across a wide range of care settings, and collaborative work with other professional groups, e.g., medical, nursing, social work.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
* Experience of the application of psychological therapy in different cultural contexts
* Experience in working in primary care.
Knowledge & Skills
* Skills in working with people with interpersonal/relational difficulties
* Training in Clinical Supervision
* Experience of establishing and running groups
