Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - High Wycombe
This is an ideal role for Criminology and Psychology graduates seeking to work in a specialist provision for children aged 11-19 who have experienced significant trauma and face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The role focuses on holistic and restorative practices, emphasizing empathy and minimizing punitive measures. Manual handling training is used only as a last resort.
A practical trial day will be conducted to ensure the role is suitable for you, depending on your availability to start ASAP, your notice period, or your university commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support students in improving their lives and keeping them safe.
2. Provide assistance to children with various needs, including those with EHCPs, Autism, OCD, and acute social anxiety.
3. Engage in physical work while facilitating academic progress tailored to each child's context.
4. Manage some anti-social behavior, understanding that this is part of the role in aiding vulnerable children.
5. Participate in training and support provided by the school, including SEN and safeguarding training, and MAPA training.
6. Utilize diverse therapeutic approaches to foster positive engagement and acceptance among students.
7. Encourage independence and set objectives for students, especially those in assisted living.
