Job Description:
St Ives, Huntingdonshire
I am looking for a general manager to run one of the leading leisure centres in the region. Based across two sites, the centres have an excellent local reputation and offer high-quality fitness and swimming facilities, as well as a wide range of outdoor pitches and tennis courts. With significant investment going into the gym, there is an exceptional opportunity to grow the membership base to 3000 members while expanding the learn-to-swim programme and building more partnerships with schools, summer camp providers, and community groups to increase the occupancy of the sports pitches and dry-side facilities.
We are keen to hear from an inspirational leader who has a proven track record as a GM and possesses the all-round leadership, commercial, and operational skills to take this £2m+ turnover business to the next level by coaching and supporting the team to consistently deliver outstanding customer service and operational excellence across the business. Ideally, you can demonstrate a proven track record running a similar large local authority leisure centre, family-focused private health club, or a significant family entertainment business centre.
Responsibilities include:
* Ensuring your teams are set up to meet and consistently deliver operational excellence.
* Recruit, coach, and inspire your managers and teams to deliver exceptional customer service reflected in the NPS scores.
* Delivering on key financial targets for DD membership, learn to swim, casual swimming, and pitch bookings.
* Take a proactive approach to building and developing partnerships with local schools and community groups.
* Constantly analyze business performance, data, and trends and take appropriate action to keep the business on track.
* Focus on achieving outstanding Quest accreditation and the highest levels of health and safety.
As general manager, you will be managing through a team of around 50 full and part-time staff and will be expected to work a combination of shifts during the week and typically one weekend in 2.
In addition to a competitive basic salary of up to £45,500, the position offers the huge benefit of enrolment onto the local government pension scheme, 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, with your birthday off, and enhanced maternal/paternal pay being another significant employee benefit.
