Purpose:
To lead cleaning services at facilities and directly participate in cleaning activities. Staff in this job function will report to the Contracts Manager/Operations Manager/Area/Branch Managers. The Cleaning Supervisor will direct and take responsibility for the daily activities of all cleaning personnel assigned to a particular contract.
Operational Tasks include, but are not limited to:
1. Ensure that shift work assignments for the contract(s) are completed within allocated timeframes to the standard required by the client
2. Perform own cleaning tasks as required
3. Evaluate and report on performance of individual cleaners quality, productivity and conduct
4. Establish and maintain communication with OCS on-site personnel and administration (and clients when directed by Contract Services Manager/Operations Manager/Area/Branch Manager)
5. Conduct site inductions for new personnel, including correct use of PPE and health and safety requirements
6. Maintain on-the-job training routines for all cleaners, and file the relevant records at the office
7. Establish and maintain professional relations with members of cleaning team
8. Evaluate and report on the use of cleaning products, materials and equipment
9. Coordinate relief cleaners assigned by site management to stand in for absent team members
10. Perform other related work as required, including emergency work
11. Follow a reasonable request from your manager
Health and Safety Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
12. Ensure that workplace is safe by checking for and reporting hazards through the use of Hazard Identification Form and ensure compliance with health and safety processes at all times
13. Ensure compliance with correct use of PPE
14. Check all electrical equipment for current safety tags Monthly and ensure the electrical register is up to date and report any expiries to site management
15. Conduct monthly equipment checks of all equipment used by allocated team
16. Report all accidents to site management and ensure that the Accident Register is completed
17. Assist with accident investigations
18. Conduct H&S Tool Box meetings regularly
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
19. Knowledge of all applicable cleaning methods, materials and equipment and related safety guidelines
20. Ability to monitor and report on the performance and conduct of staff
21. Ability to instruct cleaning staff in the performance of manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength
22. Knowledge of the correct use of applicable PPE
23. A thorough knowledge of the safe operation of all mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment utilised on site - including checking safety compliance
24. Ability to complete daily cleaning check lists
25. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and communication with subordinates, other supervisors, management and clients
26. Knowledge of evacuation procedures for all buildings within allocated area
Required Attitudinal Disposition:
A responsible mature disposition, able to work under the instruction of a manager and effectively direct the activities of others. A personable disposition is required with the ability to maintain a flexible outlook.
Minimum Training and Experience:
It is required that Supervisors have attained (or achieve in a reasonable time) the National Certificate in Cleaning and Caretaking (Level 2). A proven track record of the ability to lead is highly desirable; and prolonged relevant experience in cleaning or general maintenance is required.
