COUNTERPARTY RISK
Counterparty Risk serves as a centralized first Line of Defense to manage the division's risk to its clients arising from our trading relationships. We mitigate risk, design, advise on and launch a breadth of initiatives across 3 key verticals: Franchise Stressed Counterparty Risk, Agreement Risk, Macro Market Structure Risk. The role will focus on efforts to expand our capabilities to manage counterparty credit risk in ordinary day to day as well as stressed counterparty scenarios utilizing best-in-class tooling to identify, evaluate and manage risk scenarios. The successful candidate will be able to engage in strategic initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups while focusing on managing day to day risk.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
1. Manage counterparty and product risk, including credit and settlement risk monitoring, limit exception management, risk exposure analysis
2. Daily review of client exposures, risk profile and collateral balances
3. Engage in document negotiation to review and approve material economically impactful terms in trading agreements
4. Design strategy to respond to macro market changes and work closely with cross-divisional project teams to implement initiatives.
5. Analyze, monitor, and report the Division's credit exposures across swaps, options, forwards, and repurchase agreements
6. Flag exposures that exceed the firm's appetite to its counterparties to senior managers and other colleagues
7. Identify and appropriately escalate issues related to data and work accuracy and quality
8. Take initiative to identify opportunities for process improvements and develop methods to reduce risks, increase controls, and improve communication
9. Engage with internal stakeholders both within Global Markets (Trading, Sales and operations) and the federation (Risk, Legal and Compliance) on overall GS Risk appetite to clients and tools to mitigate the risk
Experience / Skills we are looking for:
1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in Risk Management or Risk-taking role in a financial institution
2. Derivative operations, credit analysis, ratings analysis, corporate finance and/or research desired
3. Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification with an excellent academic record
4. Strong interest and familiarity with finance, global financial markets, and economic developments
5. Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as written and verbal communication skills
6. Ability to work flexibly in teams and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines
7. Highly motivated with strong academic background and a commitment to excellence
8. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
