Organic Synthetic Chemist required, based in Greater Manchester. Requiring a degree in Chemistry (or similar), and proven industrial experience of organic chemistry. HPLC and GC experience including maintenance, calibration and potentially method development would be desirable but not essential.

SRG are currently working with well-established chemical manufacturer who have been producing speciality chemical for the last 40 years, both under their own brand name and as a toll manufacturer. They are now seeking an Organic Synthetic Chemist to join their technical team based at their site in Greater Manchester. This role will involve working closely with the Technical Manager, NPD Team and QC Team to support in the development of new products using organic synthetic methods. Requiring proven industrial experience of organic chemistry, analysis and scale-up and process development, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming ideas into scalable production processes.
Working hours: 40 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times. 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
Role / Description
1. Support the NPD team with delivering development projects, including neutralization, oxidation, sulphonation, esterification, and phosphation.
2. Assist in daily analysis tasks including wet chemistry titrations and various instrumental techniques such as FTIR, UV Spectroscopy, HPLC and GC analysis.
3. Support in method development, validation, calibration and maintenance of a range of techniques including HPLC and GC.
4. General laboratory maintenance, stock control and ordering.
5. Write and update extensive technical reports for development work.
6. Organise, support and conduct plant trials and scale-up processes.
7. Actively communicate with the sales team and external customers regarding development projects.
8. Support QC team with routine QC analysis as and when required.
Requirements
1. Degree in Chemistry (or similar).
2. Proven industrial experience of organic chemistry.
3. Strong analytical skills including HPLC and GC.
4. Method development, calibration and maintenance experience is desirable but not essential.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
