As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced and capable Financial Controller to join our leadership team and take full ownership of the finance function. This is a key role within the business, offering a fantastic opportunity to shape the financial strategy of a high-growth organisation. The Role The Financial Controller will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements (including VAT and CIS), and the effective management of working capital. You will lead a small finance team, currently comprising two finance assistants and a credit controller, and work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insight and support strategic decisions. Key Responsibilities Full oversight of the day-to-day financial operations Supervision and development of the finance team Management of invoicing processes and credit control functions Preparation and submission of VAT and CIS returns Applications for payment and overseeing payment schedules Payroll processing and related compliance Budgeting and budget control across departments Cash flow forecasting and management Bank reconciliations and payment processing Maintenance of strong relationships with external funders Liaison with credit insurers to ensure coverage and minimise risk Purchase ledger management and approvals What We’re Looking For Fully qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) Proven experience in a financial management or controller role Previous experience within the construction or recruitment sectors is highly desirable Strong working knowledge of VAT, CIS, and HMRC compliance Confident managing payroll and financial reporting cycles Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels High attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel What We Offer A supportive, ambitious working environment Opportunities for progression within a growing business Exposure to strategic decision-making Flexible working hours and a competitive salary Company pension scheme and other benefits
