Southcroft Lodge provides hotel-style accommodation for patients discharged from hospital, support for those in Crisis in the Community, long-term supported-living community placements and B&B step-down from the hospital.
We are an expanding not-for-profit Social Care organization that provides high-quality accommodation and support for Service Users who experience Serious Mental Illnesses as well as Housing support.
Our aim is to provide a therapeutic, structured environment for Clients, empowering the individuals we support to realise their potential.
Position
Young People's Project Worker - 1 x Full time (37.5 hours), 2 x Part time (weekends - Saturday and Sunday)
Salary: London Living Wage hourly rate
As part of our Community pathway, we provide Housing support to our Young People Service Users. We now need to recruit One Full-time and Two Part-time Young People's Project Workers.
The purpose of this role is to provide intensive, needs-led support to young people aged 16-25 experiencing homelessness at Wilton Road supported accommodation. This involves conducting key working sessions to identify and address barriers to independence, assisting young people in setting and achieving tenancy goals and managing their cases through regular assessments, support plans, and reviews. The role also includes helping young clients manage their finances and benefits, liaising with external agencies, and advocating on their behalf to secure necessary resources. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate records and collaborating with external providers to enhance opportunities for our young residents.
Requirements
PERSON SPECIFICATION
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES - (including)
1. An approachable manner and the resilience to cope with a busy, challenging, and emotive job.
2. A thorough understanding of the issues, barriers, and challenges which young people experiencing homelessness might be facing, especially at the point of accessing help and support.
3. An understanding of the kinds of behaviour young people might demonstrate and the ability to understand this behaviour and develop compassionate and psychologically informed strategies for managing behaviour.
4. Knowledge of homelessness and issues affecting young people and an understanding of how these interact together.
5. Up-to-date working knowledge of local services available for homeless and vulnerable young people.
6. A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning.
7. A clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and Health and Safety procedures.
