The Life Enrichment Director coordinates the overall planning and implementation of varied activity and educational programs designed to meet the requirements of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervises two Life Enrichment Associates. Plans and coordinates activities and events, discussion groups & clubs, cultural activities, special entertainment, off-campus trips, holiday parties, etc. Creates monthly Life Enrichment Calendar and distributes the calendar prior to the 1 st of each month. Purchases supplies for activities as needed and ahead of time when possible. Monitors the departmental budget. Submits departmental reports as requested. Establishes and monitors departmental goals and expectations. Collaborates with other departments (Transportation, Dining, etc.) to provide meaningful activities/events together. Provides education to employees in other departments so they can assist with larger group activities. Directs volunteer activities, provides training, and assures compliance with required documentation. Interacts courteously, tactfully, and politely with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors or associates to preserve productivity and moral. Schedules weekend activities that Life Enrichment Associates, Residents, or themselves can do. Provides resources to Life Enrichment Associates so they can assist in all areas of Life Enrichment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPR certified or ability to obtain once hired. Experience in geriatrics preferred.
