As an innovative Pharmacy Department continually expanding our services, we are looking to expand our qualified pharmacy technician workforce further. Joining our team of 50+ Technicians, we need individuals who are eager to learn new roles and to support future developments. We utilise accredited checking technicians throughout our dispensaries and are keen to develop further technical involvement within Medicines Management. We have a proven track record of developing qualified pharmacy technicians including those who are new to the hospital environment, providing opportunities for you to develop in areas such as: Dispensing, Accredited Checking (ACPT), Medicines Management including Dispensing for Discharge; Aseptic services; and Community services, all within structured development programs.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this job is to undertake a range of duties of a technical nature within the Dispensary, Ward Services, and Aseptic areas of the Pharmacy following Standard Operating Procedures.
Service Delivery Responsibilities
* The Band 4 Technician provides technical support within the Dispensary, Ward Services, Stores and distribution, and Aseptic areas. Such a technician should be able to work within designated areas of the Pharmacy Department with appropriate support and supervision.
* A Band 4 technician is a training grade and will be supported in developing skills to allow the potential for application for higher grade technician posts.
* Technicians may be asked to provide support on any of the Trust sites.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent AND BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy services
* Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
Experience
* Recent (within the last 2 years) relevant experience in a hospital pharmacy evidenced by competency-based assessment.
Knowledge and Training
* Experience of the use of PMR (Patient Medical Records) or other electronic computer systems such as JAC, Proscript, Compass or alike.
Planning & Organisational Skills
* Able to work during the normal working week, extended hours, weekends, and bank holidays.
* Able to manage own time well.
* Able to communicate and organise own work.
