Job overview
The Emergency Department is looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join the nursing team as Health Care Support Workers. You must be someone who works well under pressure, proactive and motivated. You will also be able to work independently and as part of the team, showing care and compassion at all times.
You must have excellent communication skills in order to work with a wide range of patients with varying health complaints. You will support the registered nurses to deliver a high standard of emergency care which is in line with Trust Values.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
The post of Healthcare Support Worker is to support the clinical teams within the Emergency Department and prepare clinical areas to receive patients. Duties include:
1. Cleaning/re-stocking equipment.
2. Preparing the cubicle area.
3. Supporting with nutritional needs.
4. Assisting with patients with basic care needs.
5. Communicating with patients and their friends/families.
You will be motivated, enthusiastic and reliable and be able to work well within a team, as well as having the initiative to work well on your own.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Care Certificate either upon appointment or within 12 weeks of commencement
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
* NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship already achieved
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience of working with members of the public or a desire to work in the Health Service
* Understanding of routine work procedures gained through a short induction period and on the job training
* Experience of working within a team within an Emergency Department
* Experience of working within a health or social care environment
* Experience of working within a team
Skills & Abilities
* Basic IT skills
* Good organisational skills
* Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
