* To monitor the food recording documentation of the other school cooks and Ensure documentation is completed in line with the national guidelines.
* To lead the catering functions within the sites of the school, including lunches, extended-hours provision, snacks and refreshments. This may include packed lunches or hot food to be taken off-site.
* To ensure that a smooth, seamless service is provided for staff and students to support learning within the school, ensuring that lunch-time is relaxing and social even for staff and students.
* To plan school menus, ensure all School Food Guidelines are adhered to and dietary requirements are met (such as halal, vegetarian, diabetes, nuts and so on).
* To prepare, serve and clear away lunch every day.
* To place orders for supplies to ensure that provision is sufficient to meet requirements.
* To adhere to all food regulations relating to the heat level of cooking, storage and serving of food. To ensure accurate records are kept.
* To adhere to all regulations relating to storage of food at correct temperatures. To ensure accurate records are kept.
* Ability to work with young people who have SEND; including those with learning difficulties, ASC, ADHD, SEMH and conduct disorders. If required by the needs of the site leader the kitchen staff will work in the classroom in order to maintain staffing ratios .
* Willingness to participate in training and supervisions/performance management
* To have an awareness of and adherence to all school safeguarding procedures and participate in training as appropriate.
* To be trained in PRICE care techniques.
Main Duties
* The general running of the kitchen and monitoring and leading the work of the other cooks on the school as detailed above.
* Ensure documentation is completed in line with the national guidelines.
* Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen is maintained, this is to include all areas. The kitchen is to be deep cleaned at least once weekly.
* To provide a varied diet with optional meals.
* It is your responsibility to be flexible with the options available, if the students do not like the options available an alternative should be offered.
* Stock rotation
* Ordering of C.O.S.H.H products.
* Reporting health and safety issues to the management team and documenting them in the relevant maintenance book.
* Communicating with students.
* Catering for events in the school eg Christmas
* Working alongside all teams to ensure the resident’s needs are put first.
* To maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity of residents at all times.
* To act in a manner, which is courteous, polite, friendly and considerate at all times.
* To attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions and fire drills and to identify your own training needs.
* To be aware of how equipment works and to report any faults that are found.
* To be aware of the need to report and document an accident or incident to the senior staff.
* Observe and read the school’s policies and procedures, and sign to say you have done so.
* To support your kitchen assistants with their role and offer guidance when needed.
* To ensure you follow your code of conduct policy and procedure.
* Any other duties as may be required. Including working in another school kitchen if required.
