We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician to join the powertrain controls engineering team to play a key role in supporting the prototype vehicle development programs. The Role Support the prototype vehicle Test and Development program Troubleshoot and diagnose issues arising during vehicle Test and Development Carryout repairs and reworks to prototype vehicles to the highest quality and safety standards Support issues investigations, root cause determination and temporary mitigations. Provide Engineering guidance and advice for production spec issue resolutions Carry out installation and rework of vehicle electrical harnesses. Diagnosis of electrical/electronic issues. Installation and operation of datalogging equipment Support raising and tracking issues via JIRA - Engineering Issues Management System Carry out vehicle systems regular inspections and record keeping Develop work instructions for vehicle servicing or rework Support vehicle level testing and Marketing activities locally and abroad at Proving Grounds, Racetracks and Test Rigs. High voltage vehicle Authorized Person level – training provided Willingness to travel nationally and internationally at short notice. Basic Qualifications Relevant Level 3 Diploma or higher (i.e. Auto-technician, Auto-Electrician, Motorsport technician, etc.) 5 Years in Automotive or Motorsport development Experience of vehicle-based testing. Valid, clean UK driving license Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and printer Adhere to all Statutory, HSE, and Regulatory Requirements Preferred Qualifications Extensive knowledge of high-performance hybrid cars or motor-racing cars Can plan and execute vehicle repairs and reworks on complex vehicle systems Ability to debug hardware and software issues on vehicles. Can define and set up data acquisition equipment Methodical and systematic Able to work autonomously and as part of a team. Can collaborate cross-functionally and with external partners.
