We have a fantastic opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager working on Amey’s Defence Service Family Accommodation contract– ensuring that Britain’s service families have safe, comfortable accommodation.
Within our central Optimisation and Support function we support our Operational Delivery teams in the delivery of our works in the field (property maintenance, reactive repairs, preventative maintenance etc).
The Continuous Improvement Manager will lead a team to deliver a change in CI culture across the contract bringing a Lean for Service approach to both tactical and strategic improvement.
This role supports field based operations so will require travel and at least three days per week on-site supporting your team and the wider contract.
Driving License Essential for travel across our Central and North UK based around Lincoln, Sheffield, Leeds, York region.

You will be responsible for:
* Own the Operational Excellence (Lean/CI) function for the RAMS contract – supporting the operation to deliver tactical /swift improvement initiatives (identifying and resolving true root cause) and embedding a culture of CI across the contract.
* Own, develop and deliver the strategic roadmap for Continuous Improvement delivering class-leading experiences for families and our operation - delivering targets to improve effectiveness of our contract delivery.
* Support the operation in defining effective processes to identify and reduce waste, driving operational value.
* Engaging positively with direct Amey teams and Supply Chain Partners to deliver continuous operational improvement.
* Collaborate closely with other tier-1 suppliers [to the MOD contract] on operational improvements and shared opportunities.
* Lead workshops and training sessions (Kaizen/RIE, Lean training and coaching) to develop the deep Lean/CI understanding and use across the contract.
We want to hear from you if you have:
* Mandatory -A Certified practicing Lean Six Sigma Green Belt for at least five years
* Leading a CI/Operational Excellence function at senior manager/director level for at least five years
* Deeply engaging with internal and external teams – to build knowledge and confidence in the key principles of Lean/CI/Operational Excellence
* CI Vision and Roadmap Development
* Delivers continuous improvement culture in field service environments and across service operations.
* Excellent data analytical and structured problem-solving skills
* Experience facilitating workshops (e.g. VSM/Process mapping, Root Cause Analysis)
* Delivers strategically (to the roadmap) and tactically (getting into the data and detail to support the CI team’s delivery of continual and incremental improvement)
* Develops high performing teams within Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement – building an infectious passion for the principles and implementation of Lean.
* Portfolio of successfully delivered projects/initiatives with clear demonstration of value delivered.
* Able to demonstrate a track record in ongoing personal professional development – including related articles/posts.
* You may have a professional qualification in facilities management.
In addition:
* Mandatory -Minimum of five years’ experience of leading a central CI team in delivery of a cultural transformation.
* Ideally a strong background in facilities management or social housing sector
* Experience of leading change within a field workforce environment (>£100m revenues)
* Experienced in developing and delivering CI strategies within multiple organisational functions (external stakeholders, internal operations) depending on the desired outcome, understanding the importance of operational excellence and champion this.
* You will have a genuine ‘can do’ and ‘what should we be aiming for?’ attitude.
* Effective CI delivery through team of CI coaches
* Application of the Scientific Method to improvement (Root cause analysis, trend analysis and structured problem solving etc).
* Application of proven models to identify areas for operational improvement.
* Utilise Lean/Operational Excellence industry approaches to improve the operational delivery and removal of waste to improve our delivery operations. You’ll be used to working cross-functionally, using your top-notch communication, and influencing skills to engage others in your workshops and explanations of improvement opportunities and experience, driving results forward.
* You should be positive in the face of complexity and ambiguity, embracing change and encouraging others to do the same, while using your excellent leadership and coaching experience to work with others on all things 'operational excellence'.
* Comfortable working in different geographies and with different operational teams (site based at least three days per week)
