Job Purpose:

* This role is responsible for helping to maintain an accurate and effective finance function and ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions. The Assistant Accountant will maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.
* A passion for numbers, accuracy, and skills in calculating figures is vital within this role, as is adeptness at paying attention to detail.

Job Context:
The Assistant Accountant is an integral part of the team, supporting the Lucy Real Estate Management Accountant in the maintenance of sub ledgers and supporting the preparation of management accounts. This role will also work alongside the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, as well as operational members of the Lucy Real Estate team.
Job Dimensions:
* This role is based in the Oxford office and can work under our hybrid working arrangements as per the policy.
* This role will report directly to the Management Accountant and be part of the finance function, however this role will work closely with the Real Estate team as this will be the business area of focus.
* Future opportunities to progress within the Finance department with further training and development.
Key Accountabilities:
These will include:
* Maintenance of nominal ledger including journals, prepayments/accruals, intercompany balances, sales ledger and all other balance sheet reconciliations.
* Assisting the management accountant where required.
* Monthly bank reconciliations.
* Maintaining fixed asset register including additions and disposals and running month end depreciation calculation. Monthly reconciliations to nominal ledger.
* Provide support to the purchase ledger function with invoice processing and supplier payment requisitions.
* Provide support to the sales ledger function with tenancy rental charges and rent receipt allocations.
* Support as and when appropriate for holiday and sickness cover for the team.
* Provide support to interim and year end audit as appropriate.
* Must conform to company policy and take initiative as appropriate.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Minimum:
* Three years plus experience working in a finance role.
* AAT qualified or equivalent standard, with opportunity to progress with further qualifications.
* Ability to communicate with all employees and stakeholders across different levels within the business.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively.
* Managing large volumes of data and creating business information from that data.
* Attention to detail and good communication skills. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP Systems). Good knowledge of double entry accounting.
* Flexible approach to meeting deadlines.
