This managed service provider specialises in providing IT support to the education sector across the North West, with a strong presence in the Merseyside area. They have approached Hays seeking an IT Engineer to work in the North Liverpool area. This MSP has an excellent reputation due to the excellent service they provide to schools, with a very customer-focused approach. It is key they appoint the right individuals to ensure continuous provision for schools. This role will focus on supporting 5 primary schools in the Merseyside area, where you will work closely with academic staff and end users, becoming an integral part of the wider IT team at the MSP.
Your new role
Reporting to the Regional IT Manager, you will be responsible for providing IT support to 5 primary schools in the North Liverpool area, providing a mixture of on-site support and remote support from home. When visiting a school, you will support them with both hardware and software, as well as with bespoke educational technologies, which will include interactive whiteboards, MIS systems, and other niche educational systems. You will build and install hardware, order new equipment as required, and ensure that users are fully trained in the use of IT equipment. For software, you will update existing software, install new software, and ensure staff are competent in the use of any new software. You will be front-facing with end users, interacting with customers daily and building rapport with the wider teams. You will liaise with the wider IT team who will support you in the roll-out of any IT projects during school holidays and assist you in further developing your knowledge.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have IT support experience providing on-site, face-to-face support to end users, ideally with experience in the education sector. Strong customer service and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to easily build rapport with individuals. Experience working on Microsoft 365, Windows servers, and educational technologies will be essential. A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are also required.
