Overview of Role
Our family department is seeking an experienced and driven Family Law Solicitor or Legal Executive to join our established Child Care department.
The position will preferably be a full-time role but part-time applications will be considered. The preferred Candidate will be required to have experience in Private Law Children matters and Domestic Abuse work. The Candidate will largely be expected to undertake their management of cases, including Court hearings so advocacy experience will be essential.

* A resilient personality with exceptional communication skills- capable working without direct supervision and with a working knowledge of legal aid and SQM requirements.
* A motivational and supportive team player who uses their intuitive approach to enable the team to always achieve its targets and objectives
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
* Ability and willingness to work flexibly and pro-actively to changing needs as and when required including cross departmentally.
* Pro-active, enthusiastic and driven individual with a passion for helping people.
* Able to manage own time effectively and flexibly in order to consistently achieve departmental targets whilst contributing to the wider needs of the Firm.
* Appropriate IT skills in Word and knowledge of LEAP would be an advantage
* Proven experience in a similar role within a professional, client facing, service led environment
* Immaculate and professional personal presentation.
Job Description
* Provide professional and appropriate legal advice and assistance to the Firm’s existing clients whilst developing new client base.
* Work pro-actively, efficiently and professionally as a fee earner within the department in conjunction with the available secretarial/administrative support
* Effectively utilise the Firm’s case management system to best effect in order to manage case load
* Record time and ensure clients are billed correctly and in line with agreed practice, policy and relevant charges.
* Support and motivate colleagues within the family team
* Manage all files methodically and efficiently and in accordance with SRA and SQM requirements and Thornes procedures to ensure all files are correctly opened, maintained accurately throughout, and closed correctly within required procedures and timeframes
* Ensure full compliance at all times with the obligations set out by the SRA and SQM
* Ensure the confidentiality and security of all practice and client’s documentation and/or information
* Proactively seek to take responsibility for own personal and professional development and ensure compliance with any compulsory professional education requirements
* Undertake additional duties, training and/or hours of work as required to ensure requirements of role are met

Salary and Benefits:
· Salary is negotiable and competitive, depending on experience
· Office based; with some discretionary remote working option available
