We have a new opportunity to be part of our IT Trackside team in the role of IT Trackside Team Leader.
As an IT Trackside Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and managing operational activities required to deliver a highly efficient and technical trackside IT operation. Your role will involve specifying, building, and supporting infrastructure solutions for Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team members at track, ensuring seamless delivery of services across multiple international events. You will work closely with logistics, event management, mission control, simulation, performance software teams, and core engineering stakeholders.
You will be responsible for:
* Defining and managing the trackside personnel rota throughout the season.
* Overseeing purchase ordering and asset management within the IT Trackside team.
* Ensuring operational efficiency in client, server, storage, network, communication, AV, security, and radio/intercom systems.
* Maintaining and updating playbooks, support contacts, and system backups.
* Managing fault tracking, resolution, and IT operations at trackside.
* Acting as an escalation point for operational trackside issues and deputizing for the Head of IT Trackside when required.
* Liaising with Race Team Coordinator for all setup and pack down team duties.
* Providing high-level IT support to key stakeholders at track and in the factory.
* Defining training plans for the IT Trackside team to prevent single points of failure.
* Contributing to new and ongoing IT system projects at both track and HQ.
* Monitoring system availability to ensure reliability and operational continuity.
* Managing trackside IT assets and inventory, including sea and air freight stock control.
* Maintaining and supporting change management following ITIL processes.
* Taking on direct report duties to other team members, including regular 1-1s.
* Providing factory mission control IT support on a rotational basis.
* Installation, configuration, and administration of operating systems and applications.
* Implementation, configuration, and administration of hardware platforms.
* Regular stock control, asset, and software assessment (Sea Freight & Air Freight).
* Organisational activities such as team travel and meetings, ensuring effective communication and close working between trackside and factory staff.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
* Extensive experience working with common desktop and server platforms, including VMware, MS Windows Server, MS Exchange, MS SQL, Active Directory, SAN & Storage (NetApp essential).
* Strong networking/security experience, preferably with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto firewalls.
* Awareness or qualifications in ITIL methodologies.
* Experience working in Motorsport IT is highly desirable.
* Prior knowledge of Motorsport-based toolsets, such as McLaren Applied Technologies and motorsport intercom systems, is advantageous.
* Experience with Cloud-based technologies like MS Azure, Office 365, or Linux Kubernetes.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
This is a full-time trackside-based role requiring extensive international travel to F1 and F1 Evolution Events worldwide. During the times you are not travelling, you will support strategic IT planning and development at our campus in Silverstone.
