The purpose of the role is to support the Business and Operations Manager in running an effective business management function, supporting all areas of the Mortgages team. As Business and Controls Manager, you’ll support the team with all insights, governance and controls. We need our business management function to become the lifeblood of the team!

Role Requirements
You will report to the Business and Operations Manager and be responsible for our business management processes. Activities will include:
* Support the mortgage specific governance structure, scheduling the meetings and making sure they run as per the terms of reference, including making sure the chair has the required MI and the meeting has an agenda.
* Supporting with team level MI, making sure reporting is delivered by the central BI function in a timely manner. This will include Operational level SLAs (Service Level Agreements), some of which will need monitoring in (near)real time.
* Monitor operational performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyse current business processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement. Work with our platform team to support implementation to drive continuous improvement.
* Manage and support the team managers measuring their team level OKRs (Objectives & Key Results) so that the team can see the progress towards the defined strategy within the period.
* Work with the team managers to manage periodic reviews of the business processes and associated risks and controls.
* Manage the team level controls and exceptions and the associated risk, working closely with the team manager responsible and the Operational Risk team.
* Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess compliance with internal policies, risk controls and external regulations. Provide clear and detailed reports on findings with actionable improvements.
* Manage Risk Events, Audits and second line review findings through to completion.
* Manage and motivate the team to complete compulsory training, development reviews and GPTW (and other) surveys.
* Coordinate the Mortgage team’s regulatory reporting submissions, making sure we hit deadlines and that the reports have achieved the defined level of governance before submission.
* Support the Business and Operations Manager with first line QA and training and competency reviews. Support the implementation of the best practices to maintain the highest standards of customer service.
* Support the team and the Business Director with staffing levels, recruitment and budget control in these areas.
* Provide training to new staff on controls, policy & reg requirements and training to existing colleagues on new controls.
