An exciting opportunity has arisen for an adult registered nurse with full NMC registration to join our team.
As a registered nurse, you will be responsible for supporting your manager and colleagues in ensuring that service users' needs are met through the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality care. We are looking to welcome a professional and enthusiastic band 5 staff nurse.
We are seeking a nurse who is confident and self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate must demonstrate a kind and compassionate attitude and have a desire to provide high-quality and efficient care to women within the Gynaecology department.
We offer support and development to all of our nurses, including a period of supernumerary on commencement of employment, department-specific training, and appraisals.
The Gynaecology Inpatient Ward is a six-bedded ward, with an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit. We care for planned, emergency, and outpatient activity 7 days per week.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have a responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the implementation of care, including discharge and transfer of patients.
You will be expected to adhere to the NMC Professional Code of Conduct and be familiar with and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures laid down by the Trust, reporting untoward incidents and completing appropriate documentation.
You will provide care to a range of patients including:
* Post-operative care for day case and major surgical operations.
* Patients with complications of early pregnancy including: hyperemesis, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, and termination.
* Bereavement care for patients and relatives who require palliative care or are experiencing loss of pregnancy.
* Triage of patients following department-specific processes and providing information and care to patients based upon these.
Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in sensitive and challenging situations.
You will carry out duties according to both local and national policies, procedures, and guidelines, contributing to quality improvement, and promoting best evidence-based practice.
