Main duties of the job
· Act asa professional role model to junior and non-qualified support staff.
· Provideskilled assistance and care to patients in the operating theatre.
· Assesscare needs of the perioperative patient and develops, implements and evaluatesprogrammes of care, rectifying and adjusting to meet individual needs.
· Demonstratesknowledge of current research, practices and procedures within the specialistfield.
· Communicateseffectively both verbally and in writing with the multidisciplinary team,patients and relatives.
· Workswithin professional codes of conduct.
· Ensurethat patients perioperative needs are continually assessed and appropriate caredelivered and documented.
· Supervisethe work of junior staff ensuring quality and confidentiality is maintained.
· Manageown workload and support others to do this.
· Undertaketraining, if required, to achieve competencies during their preceptorshipperiod and support teaching and development of all staff.
· Beresponsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills andprofessional awareness in accordance with NMC or HPC requirements.
· Toparticipate in the training and development of Health Care Assistants andOperating Department Practitioners.

Job responsibilities
· ARegistered Practitioner who will form a key part of the perioperative team byproviding skills in Theatre Scrub and support.
· Workcollaboratively with clinicians, service managers to provide the best possiblecare to patients
· Anability to apply theory to practice to provide a high standard of perioperativecare to all patients, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.
· Thepost holder displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Thepost holder may be involved in ensuring the seamless transfer of patients to anacute trust should such situation arise.
