Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to join the Lymphoedema team at Florence Nightingale Hospice as a Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist.
This small and supportive team is unique in offering a broad range of therapeutic options chosen and tailored to the individual, based on the comprehensive assessment of specialist Clinicians.
The hospice is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Main duties of the job
1. Work with the Clinical Nurse Specialist & lymphoedema Practitioner in the daily activities within the Lymphoedema Clinic.
2. Participate in the delivery of a coordinated, high-quality MLD service for patients with lymphoedema that is patient-focused and will lead to an improved quality of life for the patient.
3. Assess, plan, and implement the necessary MLD & therapy treatments for patients attending the clinic, ensuring patients with lymphoedema receive a package of care to meet their care requirements effectively and efficiently.

Person specification
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a lymphoedema specific clinic and having own client base.
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Recognised certificate in MLD training.
* Evidence of continuing professional update in MLD.
* Experience in MLD and multi-layer lymphoedema bandaging as part of the management of lymphoedema.
* Experience of the special needs of the oncology patient.
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
* Demonstrate the ability to implement intensive therapies i.e., MLD & multi-layer bandaging.
* Manage complications associated with severe/complex lymphoedema.
* Demonstrate an understanding of quality & audit.
