Do you work in the field of digital, in the broadest sense? We’re looking for both people who consider themselves specialists (such as senior leaders in product management, service design, delivery or technology) or generalists (leading delivery teams and organisational transformation, such as strategists or digital team leaders).
At Public Digital, we’ll ask you to apply those skills as consultants, but a style of consultancy grounded in lived experience: your lived experience, and the lived experiences of the wider Public Digital team.
Day-to-day, you’ll be an advisor. You’ll identify, craft and go on to lead large, impactful client engagements. You will also apply your skills directly as a practitioner in your area of expertise - showing by doing, while helping senior leaders learn from the skills and experience you have.

You’ll be asked to lead multidisciplinary, multi-functional consulting teams, helping our varied clients with a diverse set of challenges and opportunities. From helping them deliver impactful digital services or making tangible progress with large-scale organisational reform and culture change.

Public Digital is growing fast and we are growing our Commercial Sector team, bringing in a Director to focus on leading engagements with our commercial clients and expand our influence in the sector. Our headcount grew by 55% in 2023, and we have developed lasting relationships in retail, media, telecoms and education sectors.
Role overview
We work across various industries helping leaders to define digital strategy, to turn around major programmes, and implement modern operating models and practices for more effective delivery and organisational transformation.
We are looking for someone to identify, lead and deliver consultancy projects with clients across our portfolio and beyond. You must have a strong understanding of how to engage with senior stakeholders, support them in developing solutions to their challenges and go on to lead their change, including how to implement and grow modern, user-centred and responsive ways of working in teams.
What you’ll do with us:
1. Lead client engagements, coach the PD team working on those engagements, and take accountability for impact and commercials.
2. Build strong, pragmatic working relationships with exec-level leaders and digital leaders in large, complex organisations and institutions.
3. You will support organisations to create radical change through digital and user-centred approaches.
4. Apply your expertise and experience to help organisations dramatically increase their digital maturity and support leaders to enable better experiences for their users.
5. You will coach and support team members to ensure change is successful in organisations.
6. You will understand digital technology and feel confident in supporting clients to maximise the benefit it brings.
7. You will extend the reach of PD’s reputation and network by representing PD in events, written communications and industry networks.
8. Contribute to our rapid growth by generating and developing new leads, and help strengthen our global reputation.
9. You will help to contribute to the development and advancement of internal team members by mentoring and passing on your experience, and support the strategic direction of Public Digital as we grow.
We’re looking for:
1. First-hand experience as a leader in a large, complex UK private sector organisations, with extensive experience in transformation.
2. Significant network of contacts who you can engage to contribute to growth of our commercial sector pipeline.
3. Experience in a consultative role, either through a consulting firm, agency, or in-house, is beneficial but not essential.
4. Proficient in agile and user-centred approaches to digital delivery, with an understanding of how to apply new ways of working in organisations to build capability and facilitate team collaboration and self-organisation.
5. Proven track record as a senior leader of teams, empowering them to deliver excellent work.
6. Excellent at stakeholder management, comfortable working closely with senior leaders as a trusted advisor and clear communicator.
7. Technical understanding.
8. You should be collaborative, comfortable working in the open, and have an ability to visualise and map concepts and ideas.
9. You should support our commitment to developing a diverse, inclusive team and culture where people thrive and produce excellent work.
10. You need to be pragmatic, proactive and resilient in managing and delivering projects, with excellent organisation, prioritisation, and delivery management skills.
11. You should have an ability to influence and support others to be self-starting and take initiative.
12. You should be willing to travel as needed to deliver projects in person and work across different time zones.
