Job Details Job Title: Resuscitation Education Practitioner Division: Corporate Department: Resuscitation Responsible and accountable to: Resuscitation Manager Band: B6 (1 WTE) Location: Across the GHNHSFT site Overview: Job purpose - Regularly deliver emergency life support courses, to all members of Trust staff ranging from basic to advanced life support courses for both adults & paediatrics. Ensuring education remains the primary focus. - Ensure all training reflects current best practice, current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines and reflects clinical priorities across the Trust. - Help oversee and maintain governance related to resuscitation services through Quality Improvement initiatives, incident reviews, debriefing, risk assessments, and procurement. - Review and investigate Datix reports concerning resuscitation events and equipment, ensuring insights inform training and practice improvements. - Attend and contribute to relevant Committee meetings to ensure Trust can deliver appropriate and safe Patient care in relation to Resuscitation. - Liaise with specialist areas to help design and deliver targeted training to meet bespoke clinical needs and support the development of staff expertise. - Contribute to the management and oversight of emergency resuscitation equipment in all areas of the Trust along with departmental training equipment. - Carry out regular audits of Trust resuscitation equipment to provide data on equipment use and the checking processes for the CQC requests. - Carry out data collection and audits of in-hospital cardiac arrests in line with the requirements for National Cardiac Arrest Audits (NCAA), as well as contributing to educational focuses. - Participate in the Trusts use of simulation in clinical education, focusing on risk evaluation, Human Factors in healthcare, and providing education in both classroom and clinical settings. - Be the subject matter expert for the Trust in all aspects of resuscitation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based training and guidance. Patient care - Attend 2222 calls as an experienced member of the Resuscitation Team, responding to both deteriorating patients and Cardiac Arrests. - Supporting members of clinical staff when 2222 calls are put out - Able to support patients distressed carers or relatives following medical emergency calls Professional practice - Up to date acute clinical experience to deliver associated subject training - Nurse / AHP with considerable experience - Specialist course or equivalent experience in acute care with current provider status for advanced resuscitation of adults & paediatrics: APLS/EPALS/ALS - Current / recent Experience of dealing with clinical emergencies in adults and/or paediatrics - Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of cardiac arrest prevention strategies - Frequently required to move/set up/relocate heavy resuscitation manikins and other training equipment for the purposes of asset location or training within the Trust. - Work with the Clinical Risk Department, Acute Care Response and other multi-disciplinary teams to address any relevant issues highlighted - Education qualification or equivalent experience in teaching, facilitating, or coaching - Possess advanced computer literacy, with a high level of proficiency in using databases and spreadsheets. - Effectively records, manages, and evaluates data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and informed decision-making Leadership and management - Up to date and well-informed resuscitation specialist to act as role model and resource - Demonstrates relevant knowledge and training in the application of debriefing and feedback techniques, in alignment with established educational frameworks and best practices. - Oversee collection of clinical and training data relating to resuscitation - Contribute to management of resources to best meet needs of Trust including resuscitation training equipment, provision of defibrillators and all equipment relating to resuscitation - Assist with opportunities for income generation whilst maintaining in-house service provision - Representing the Band 7 and resuscitation service as required Education and training - Organise, facilitate, and deliver resuscitation courses at all levels, from Basic to Advanced Life Support, including nationally accredited courses governed by bodies such as the Resuscitation Council (UK). - Provide high-quality emergency and life support training in both clinical and classroom settings, tailored to the needs of diverse staff groups. - Demonstrate understanding of the theory and practice of simulation-based education, using simulation as a dynamic teaching tool to enhance learning outcomes. - Teach advanced resuscitation techniques, including the use of mechanical CPR devices, intraosseous drills, pacing, and cardioversion, ensuring confidence and capability in learners. - Hold a teaching qualification or equivalent experience in education, facilitation, or coaching, with a commitment to ongoing professional development. - Hold a current advanced provider qualification to deliver adult and paediatric resuscitation with a view to work towards achieving instructor status - Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop innovative, evidence-based training programmes that meet clinical needs and enhance staff competence across the Trust. - Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and modify content to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with best practices. Improving quality and developing practice - Ability to carry out data collection for both local and national datasets and to report to relevant committees - Theoretical and practical understanding of Human Factors and their application to simulation-based training, ensuring a deeper impact on learning and patient safety. - Ability to review, analyse, and contribute to the development of new policies, ensuring they align with best practice and improve resuscitation and simulation outcomes. - Ability to undertake or participate in Quality Improvement projects within resuscitation
