Norse Environmental Waste Services (NEWS) is the division of Norse Commercial Services responsible for pioneering and managing sustainable ways to process both commercial and residential waste.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Area Supervisor to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The role
As Area Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing efficient and competent assistance to our transport and HWRC supervisor operations to help deliver the best client & customer service safely and efficiently.
You will be required to meet the overall operational requirements along with meeting business targets and following strict health and safety guidelines. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supervising the operation of the sites to ensure that an efficient waste recycling service is provided, managing and prioritising the activities of colleagues to help ensure that site targets are met.
* Ensuring that members of the general public are treated in a helpful and courteous manner, supporting colleagues where any difficulties arise.
* Supporting a culture of safety awareness and safe working. Ensure that all personnel fully comply with safety practices and procedures. Strive to avoid accidents by ensuring that risks are controlled in the workplace. Regularly conduct safety inspections. Ensure that accidents/near misses are reported, investigations are completed, and that any resulting recommendations are implemented.
* Scheduling TCM cover to the Recycling Centres ensuring all site activities fall within what is allowed via the site's permits, and where necessary providing TCM cover.
* Fostering good team working relationships. Ensure that all employees are properly trained to carry out their duties.
Our successful candidate:
* Holds a valid certificate of technical competency (COTC) in both non-hazardous and hazardous waste transfer.
* Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
* Has previous experience within a waste/industrial environment.
* Can build and maintain effective working relationships.
* Has strong attention to detail.
