General
The teacher will be responsible for managing the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within the context Business and Economics within the broader Individual & Societies programme for ISL’s Secondary School.
1. Leadership
* Be responsible for leading the development of the Business Management and Economics programme
* Oversee the courses in managing all aspects of teaching and learning, including: curriculum development; assessment and reporting; management of rooms and resources to create a safe and visually appealing learning environment; regular refreshment of displays and showcasing of work
* Liaise with staff in the I&S Department and the Coordinators to ensure continuity of programme
* Be responsible for reporting budget items under the broader I&S Department to the HOD
* Attend all Department meetings and School professional development sessions
* Participate fully in an expanding ISL I&S Programme
2. Personnel
* Coordinate visits and performances, both internal and external, related to taught curriculum
3. Accountability
* Develop the Business Management and Economics courses in alignment with the School’s strategic plan for the Department and student agency
* Participate in Department meetings, liaising with key staff as appropriate
* Play a significant part in the organisation of CWOW experiences for students
* Participate in professional learning and contribute to regular staff training/meetings
4. Academic Quality
* Create a happy, challenging and effective learning environment
* Have a high level of understanding of how children learn and possess the ability to motivate students to perform at their best
* Through differentiated and personalised instruction, be able to inspire diverse classes, creating individualised, challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students
* Support student needs in learning and pastoral matters
* Implement curriculum policy and strategic plans
* Liaise with colleagues and curriculum leaders to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum to specified classes, including selecting resources and managing them efficiently in the classroom
* Design, develop, implement and review the Business Management and Economics programme
* Contribute to the extra-curricular activities programme of the school
5. Chronology
* Instigate and develop an innovative approach to Business Management and Economics
* Demonstrate and encourage high standards of professionalism from all staff involved with I&S courses
* Ensure all planning in regard to the Business Management and Economics courses is done in a timely and professional manner
6. Community
Contribute to the development of a positive attitude between the I&S Programme and the wider community through cooperative relations, publications, etc.
* Co-ordinate with the appropriate personnel to ensure that all tasks are carried out by teaching and non-teaching staff in relation to the I&S Programme
* Publicise and organise aspects of the I&S Department and courses in a timely fashion
7. Administration
* Coordinate with the HOD to draft all communication about events in relation to Business Management and Economics courses to parents, other staff and the wider ISL community as appropriate
8. Communication
* Ensure information regarding students and student activity is communicated through the appropriate channels, working in conjunction with the Front Office
* Advise the HOD, Coordinators, Secondary Principal on all matters connected with public performances, exhibitions and shows
* Communicate with the wider community as appropriate, in a timely and professional manner
* Liaise with other agencies and support services as necessary
9. Finances
* Working with the HOD, be involved with managing the annual budget for Business Management and Economics courses, making proposals for the best use of funds
* Ensure all Business Management and Economics resources are properly budgeted
* Manage the deployment of resources – keeping shelves, cupboards, rooms and areas ordered and tidy
10. Care & Guidance
To be familiar with the School’s Child Protection Policy and to report concerns to the designated Child Protection Officer
To ensure all educational practices are in line with school’s health and safety procedures and policies.
At ISL London, Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.
