Clinical Lead/Senior Children's Physiotherapist - 22.5 hours/week (Monday-Friday)
Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated physiotherapist with strong communication and organisational skills to join the Paediatric Physiotherapy team at Worthing Child Development Centre, Worthing Hospital.
We seek a candidate to start mid-July for a one-year career break cover, working three days a week. However, flexibility is available for the right applicant. We welcome applications from experienced Band 6 or Band 7 physiotherapists interested in joining our supportive team. Please indicate your preferred band and working hours in your application.
The Paediatric Physiotherapy service provides expert assessment, treatment, and advice to children and young people between 0 and 19 years of age with neuro-developmental and musculoskeletal conditions and neuro-disability. The post-holder will also be required to demonstrate strong leadership skills to facilitate service development and operational support across the physiotherapy team. The service works closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, families, carers, other healthcare professionals, and educational staff, including school and early years settings staff.
We offer regular in-service training, peer supervision, and clinical support. There are dedicated paediatric special interest groups, and the Paediatric Physiotherapy service is supported by a Countywide Professional Lead.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide specialist clinical assessment and intervention for a mixed caseload of children, including management of postural and orthopaedic conditions.
2. To support and supervise more junior members of staff with caseload management, clinical skills, and prioritisation.
3. To support undergraduate physiotherapy student placements within the relevant areas of work and support other staff supervising the students.
4. To provide performance information to service managers to support the delivery of KPIs, management of demand and capacity, and to inform future workforce, skill mix requirements, and service development.
5. To report and manage incidents and complaints to reduce risk. To share learning from incidents and risk with the team and wider organisation as appropriate.
6. To organise and deliver in-service training to clinical staff and to the wider MDT as appropriate.
7. To be responsible for ensuring effective induction for all staff within the area of responsibility and relevant students.

Experience
* Significant experience providing clinical leadership to a team
* Significant experience of working in the specialist clinical setting
* Significant experience of supervision provision
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and high-level understanding of team dynamics.
* Experience of delivering quality improvement, innovation, and productivity
* Evidence of active participation in audit and clinically relevant research
* Significant experience working in a Paediatric community setting
Skills
* Demonstrable expertise within clinical area underpinned by theory and significant experience
* Use of advanced reasoning and assessment skills demonstrated in knowledge and experience shown in a wide range of approaches to treatments, management of conditions, and situations
* Demonstrates excellent leadership and ability to empower others in practice
* Demonstrates working knowledge of relevant legislation such as Manual Handling, Health and Safety.
* IT skills, with the ability to use a number of databases, Excel, Word, and internet
* Excellent written communication skills with the ability to record actions and decisions accurately
* Demonstrates excellence in communication skills with an ability to negotiate and manage conflict
* Ability to travel cost-effectively for work.
Qualifications
* Professional qualification such as a degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy.
* Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Physiotherapist
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate courses / CPD and reflective practice relevant to clinical specialty
* Post Registration qualification or training to masters level or equivalent and experience
* Evidence of leadership education / development or a willingness to undertake this
* Registered with CSP
