An EHS Leader leads the safety and environmental functions at an assigned site. The successful candidate in this role works on implementing and maintenance of critical processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to environment, health, and safety. The EHS Leader must spend significant time on the plant floor, engaging and coaching employees and contractors on a daily basis. As an integral part of the plant leadership team, the EHS Leader will provide information and guidance for activities relating to the site-wide safety and environmental operating objectives. The position acts as the subject matter expert at the plant and is accountable for building capability to ensure a plant wide safety culture and a culture of environmental compliance.
Reports to: Plant Leader
Span of Control: 1 Salaried and 1 Primary employee as Direct Reports; Primary responsibility is Plant wide; will also be leveraged to provide support across other plants and the broader Insulation business as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities
· Complete all required safety training.
· Adhere to all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards
· Educate team members on safe operations of new processes or modifications.
· Effectively communicate Owens Corning’s stand on safety throughout the Plant to ensure all employees believe in and behave in a manner that supports our stand that all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone’s responsibility, and that working safely is a condition of employment at Owens Corning.
Health and Safety Leadership
· Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive towards an injury free culture throughout the entire workforce.
· Effectively communicate Owens Corning’s stand on safety to ensure employees believe in and behave in a manner that supports our stand that all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone’s responsibility, and that working safely is a condition of employment at Owens Corning.
· Maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor, influence employee and leadership behaviors, and fully engage employees in the safety process.
· Lead and engage the team on sustainable programs and processes, including a culture of employee ownership, incident reporting / risk reduction and continuous improvement.
· Grow and develop the safety teams within the workforce.
· Sets and accomplishes critical metrics regularly to ensure continuous improvement in the processes that lead to a 100% engaged safety culture at the plant.
Environmental Leadership
· Lead and support environmental initiatives and process to drive towards zero non-compliances.
· Drive consistent implementation of environmental requirements in conformance with applicable laws and regulations and governmental guidelines.
· Serve as an environmental expert with experience in air, water, and land-based compliance.
· Advise and guide the Natural Leadership Team (NLT) in developing and implementing a risk-ranked strategic plan, prioritize and advocate capital/resource requests, and advise the leadership team on all aspects of environmental compliance and the facility’s responsibilities.
· Liaise with all environmental authorities such as Environment Canada, Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, and local/municipal authorities.
· Support the completion of environmental reports, permit applications and renewals, environmental sampling requirements, etc
· Lead sustainability initiatives to meet or exceed Owens Corning’s Sustainability 2030 Goals
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· 10+ years of experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
· Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental related discipline required
· Experience in environmental, safety and health management
· Demonstrated success coaching and leading teams in a high employee empowerment culture, while training and developing technical skills in others.
· Ability to adapt and contribute to plant success in multiple areas (Operations, Talent Development, Project Leadership, TPM)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
· Certified Environmental Professional (EP), preferred
· Leading change management efforts
· Managing and delivering results through projects and initiatives.
· Experience utilizing computer programs and Microsoft Office products.

· Ability to travel as required (5%-10%).
· Learns concepts and new skills at a very rapid pace and applies learning to the job.
· Understands deep and complex scientific concepts and can troubleshoot problems based on abstract data.
· Conducts himself/herself with the highest ethical and moral standards
· Achieves results fast, individually and through teams – can synthesize data and multiple points of view quickly and creatively to arrive at balanced solutions. Has a strong bias for action.
